October serves as a powerful reminder that self-care is not optional, especially as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Prioritizing your health is essential, and taking proactive steps can make a significant difference. Regular screenings and being informed about breast health are crucial components of self-care, empowering you to take charge of your well-being and catch potential issues early.

In addition to focusing on breast health, October is a great time to consider the importance of skin health. As the seasons change, so do the needs of your skin. Incorporating a skincare routine that nourishes and protects can help maintain your skin's vitality. To explore the latest in skincare and wellness, join us at Dr. Christine Cho’s Medspa Open House on October 16th (details below). This event is a wonderful opportunity to learn about innovative treatments and products that can enhance your self-care regimen.

Remember, taking care of yourself is a continuous journey that encompasses all aspects of health. By prioritizing regular check-ups and embracing comprehensive self-care practices, you are investing in a healthier, more vibrant future. Let this October be a month of awareness, action, and commitment to your well-being.

Hair Loss during Menopause or with Weight Loss

Menopause is characterized by a significant decline in estrogen and progesterone levels, which can lead to various symptoms, including hair thinning and loss. The reduction in these hormones affects the hair growth cycle, leading to a shorter anagen (growth) phase and a longer telogen (resting) phase, resulting in increased hair shedding. Additionally, genetic predisposition and other factors, such as stress and nutritional deficiencies, can exacerbate hair loss during menopause.

To address hair loss associated with menopause, it is important to have a multifaceted approach to treatment. This may include lifestyle modifications, such as a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, stress management techniques, and the use of topical treatments like minoxidil. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is also discussed as a potential option for alleviating menopausal symptoms and may help improve hair density in some women. Check out the full article below.

One supplement that has helped some of my clients is Nutrafol. Dr. Cho’s office recently started carrying this at a discounted rate!
